Why Dockendale?

Drawing on many decades of technical experience and seafaring knowledge, Dockendale provides trusted ship management services to the dry bulk shipping industry.

Our clients benefit from the expertise of our skilled and experienced team, our innovative shipping and logistical solutions, and high levels of integrity.

High operating and technical standards

High operating standards and best practices have been part of our DNA for more than 45 years. We monitor our performance via a comprehensive set of 22 Key Performance Indicators covering the safety and efficiency of operations in all aspects, from personnel to environment and cargo.

Dockendale is also accredited to ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management).

Continuous investment in training and development

As part of Dockendale’s commitment to training and development, the company provides regular in-house training (ashore and onboard) to ensure seafarers are up to date on any new regulations, changes to procedures and any other relevant requirements. We also arrange for third-party trainers to visit vessels to give specific specialised on-the-job training.

Dockendale provides additional crewing slots for cadets on-board its vessels, giving them opportunities to gain valuable experience at sea.

Committed to safety at sea

The health and safety of the people we work with (including seafarers, shore personnel and visitors to the fleet) is our first priority. We aim to operate to a higher standard of safety and environmental compliance than is required by regulation to protect personnel onboard and ashore, the environment and property at all times.

We conform to best practices especially in the areas of occupational health, safety, quality and environmental protection. All employment-related regulations are in accordance with STCW (International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) standards and Bahamian flag state requirements.

Committed to sustainable and responsible business

Dockendale is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our activities and operating to the highest ethical standards. We promote on-board recycling and the use of sustainable materials on all vessels – such as biodegradable oils and greases and non-toxic paint. We also work closely with vessel owners to encourage the installation of onboard Ballast Water Treatment Systems.

Giving back to communities where we operate

Since 2013, Dockendale has made an annual financial contribution to support a number of maritime institutes in India. These institutes train and educate students to become qualified seafarers and are a potential source of talented new recruits for Dockendale.

Since 2016, we have contributed to the S.A.T.S General Botha Old Boys Bursary Fund in Cape Town, South Africa, a scheme that provides education to help underprivileged students gain employment in the maritime industry.
